About Dial House Care

The origins of Dial House came from the first Nursing Home opened in Bedford in 1947 by the current MD’s mother. This home, Rothsay Nursing Home, was originally in Rothsay Gardens and subsequently moved to Goldington road in the 1950’s.

It became Dial House Nursing Home when it moved to Dial House, in Park Avenue, in 1963. In 2000, when the house became unsuitable for modern standards, it moved to Dynevor Road to the position it currently occupies.

The original owner passed away in 1974 and her children have run it since then. The current MD has been running the home for the past 25 years and has many years nursing experience in both the private and public sector.

Day to Day Running

In daily charge of the Residential Nursing Home is the manager Susan Yates. She is a qualified Registered General Nurse and has many years nursing experience working in Bedford Hospital and managing homes. She joined the Dial House team in 2008 as Training Manager, and training is one of her passions.

Sue is assisted by Janice Irvine, the Matron, who is responsible for the clinical care of our residents. Janice is also a Registered General Nurse and has worked at Dial House for over 16 years and previously, when it was the Bower Nursing Home.

Supporting Janice are her three Deputy Matrons, Polly Whitney, Helen Robson and Charlotte Riley. All have extensive experience in the NHS and extremely high standards of care. All the Deputies have specialist roles within the home.

Polly supervises the development and care standards on new members of staff.

Helen is responsible for Palliative Care.

Charlotte is the lead for Infection Control and Tissue Viability.

Home Care

Dial House has been one of the leading providers of Home Care in Bedfordshire since then. For many years it was one of Bedfordshire County Councils block providers. It now provides care for Private Clients, council funded clients, health funded clients and those receiving Direct Payments.

The manager of the Home Care Department is Ceri Wilson who has many years working within a Home Care environment and has an excellent working relationship with staff and clients. She maintains extremely high standards within the Department.
